IEP
The Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) is a plan or program developed to ensure that a child who has a disability identified under the law and is attending an elementary or secondary educational institution receives specialized instruction and related services.
An assessment plan describes the evaluation procedures used to help the IEP team determine the: Presence/nature of a qualifying disability.
504 Plan
The 504 Plan is a plan developed to ensure that a child who has a disability identified under the law and is attending an elementary or secondary educational institution receives
accommodations that will ensure their academic success and access to the learning environment.
A 504 plan is a blueprint for how the school will support a student with a disability and remove barriers to learning. The goal is to give the student equal access to school.
Accommodations don’t change what kids learn; it’s how they learn it. The goal is to remove barriers and give kids access to learning.
Section 504 requires the child’s school districts to refer a student for an evaluation for possible special education or related aids and services or modification to regular education if the student,
because of disability, needs or is believed to need such services.
