Tourette Syndrome (TS) is a condition of the nervous system where people have (Tics). Tics are
sudden movements or sounds that people do repeatedly that are uncontrollable. Motor tics are
movements such as blinking, shrugging the shoulders, or head jerking. Vocal tics are sounds that
a person makes via voice, such as humming, clearing the throat, or yellings out a phrase.
Temporary tics can last a few weeks or months, but complex tics can last longer. Symptoms of
TS can begin between 5-10 years old.
Behavioral therapy can reduce the number or severity of tics, as well as the impact they have on
daily life
